I may be wrong, but I think that in English history 1gp (1 guinea) = 21sp (21 shillings) and 1 sp = 12cp (12 pennies) and 1 penny = 4 farthings.1:21:252:1004
Akiyama, you should read the other post and the links/citations in there. I think the most important observation is 1 sp does not equal 1 shilling. That's the difference between "physical money" and "money-of-account".
